At the Clark Art Institute, designLAB is in early stages of preparing plans for an interior renovation of the stately Wall House, a residential property adjacent to the Clark’s campus. The house, acquired by the Clark several years ago, will be redesigned to support the Clark's overall commitment to enhancing the museum field by providing housing for emerging professionals who are participating in a new program the Clark is launching to provide internships for all types of museum-related careers. In keeping with the Clark's commitment to inclusion and accessibility, the interns will benefit from comfortable accommodations that encourage collegiality and collaboration. The former single-family home will be converted into five private apartments, joined by communal living and dining spaces that foster socialization and teamwork among the residents while learning at the Clark.  Our improvements will center sustainable building systems and accessibility enhancements. This building’s distinctive exterior character will be preserved and restored to maintain the visual integrity of the Clark's picturesque landscape, reinforcing its goal of supporting emerging professionals in the arts.
